Skiing on Golf Courses?

Postby square » Fri Jan 18, 2008 3:02 pm

i'm looking to teach my old girl a thing or two about cross country skiing. and while the lake is just down the street from me, i think a golf course would be a safer bet for a first time. i've heard some golf courses are stingy about allowing people to ski on their completely unused wintry surfaces. are there any in madison i should keep off? not that i'm scared of trespassing, i doubt they have a guy with a shotgun just waiting for varmint skiers to mistakenly go for a ski.

or, do you have any suggestions for a good place around here to ski (aside from the arboretum)?

I have seen folks skiing on Odana Hills, but I have no way of knowing if rifle sights were being trained on them as I drove by on the Beltline.

I'm not sure, but I think you need a permit to X-country ski @ Odana(or Elver).
