Careful with that air freshener, ace.

If it's news, but not politics, then it goes here.

So who read the article in the WiSJ Thursday about the man pulled over for the air freshener hanging from his visor? Guess what, it turned out he had 2 grams of pot in his car (roughly 5 or 6 bowls, by my calculations  ), and he was cited.

The citation was later thrown out on some kind of technicality, no probable cause to search or something. But the article also mentioned that Dane Co. DA Brian Blanchard raised the threshhold for criminal charges of possession from 7g to 25g (almost an ounce). Anything under this is presumably a municipal citation (MGO 23.20 if memory serves, but I'm no attorney). Yay Brian Blanchard! Now just get something statewide and we'll be set.

The threshold should be moved to 28.5 or 29 grams, just above an ounce, but otherwise I pretty much agree.

now if you ask me, some of those car air fresheners are what should be illegal. those "pine trees" are an insult to nature.

I'm with rabbit.
The poll is missing the best option.

You know, cops also search cars that have a lot of fast food trash on the floors because people can hide rocks in a McNugget box.
No kidding.

Pretty soon there will be a law that all mothers have to report to jail so their babies are born behind bars in case they commit crimes later in life.
