Capital TimesThe most noticeable cut will be the closing of the Catholic Multicultural Center, 1862 Beld St., which opened in 1946 as the Blessed Martin House and was expanded in 2002 to serve a growing underprivileged community on the city's south side.
The center provides free meals three days a week, has a food pantry and a parish nurse, as well as offering adult education and employment assistance.
"As the diocese continues to evaluate the programs and ministries provided by the CMC, it will work to do all it can to continue to serve people of one of the city's poorer neighborhoods," the release said.
Media reports said the last free meal at the center will be served on Friday, beginning at 4 p.m....
