I might just suck on the teat of a cow with cowpox.

I'd rather not hear how you plan on vaccinating yourself against cholera, though. At least not around lunchtime.

It might work. Milkmaid skin.

For what it's worth, this year's flu vaccine is reportedly 62% effective -- in other words, if you are vaccinated, your odds of getting the flu are 62% lower than if you skip the vaccine.

That's not as effective as other major vaccines (e.g., MMR), but it's better than no vaccine at all.

No shot needed? From your link:
2. Get a flu shot.

I guess getting past number one (in a list of five) was too much to ask, huh?

When my parents got the flu, they'd make up a hot concoction that included a shot of booze. Then they'd get under the feather tick and sweat it out.

Were they under it together? Maybe "the flu" was just an excuse.

Uh,Uh, they didn't engage in flu sex.

They used to tell me to wait on the porch, of our favorite cabin, when I was a little girl...

The best advice you can get is to eat garlic every day. Helps keep away vampires, also.

Garlic Soup! A Hundred Times More Efficient Than Antibiotics

"The benefits of traditional garlic soup have been known for years. Garlic soup has already shown his effects in treating flu, cold and Norovirus. All you need is garlic, red onion and thyme. In the past few years people tend to use natural remedies instead of antibiotics and other medications that are usually prescribed to individuals dealing with cold or fly."

... never going to come from someone who believes that garlic soup is "A Hundred Times More Efficient Than Antibiotics", especially someone whose source thinks colds and the flu can or should be treated similarly and repeatedly mentions "the latest research" without providing any links.* Sounds like delicious soup, though, that's for sure, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend someone experiencing nausea and/or vomiting should eat anything containing sour cream. I find dairy to be a no-no when I'm under the weather but admittedly, that could just be my individual constitution.

*Or really, just uses the term Big Pharma. That's an "I've stopped listening to you" marker for me, just like comparing everything to Nazis is. This excellent blog post spells out a lot of reasons why.
