Onion Corners

The Hop House
Amsterdam style "cafe". Need I say more?

Red Letter News outdoor porno theatre
No need for police presense here, right?

Madison Timberwolves football stadium

Some are just so vague:

East High School
Nod to cultural history
shared space
hot chocolate

And what is cultural history (indian mounds)? Are they saying to build some indian mounds?

Childrens art van. Well there's already a couple of vans parked over there but I wouldn't let any kids near them.

How about a community dog poop disposal tank, so it wouldn't all go into tightly sealed plastic bags at the landfill. I'm not really kidding on that one.

Personal faves:

Giant coffee cart
Bat house workshops
bird watching and/or hunting
Community hammocks
safe tent city
archery range

I liked "Temporary Building Structure – adaptable to many uses / shipping containers." They could bring in a bunch of shipping containers and invite people to turn them into dwellings in whatever manner they liked. Then they could actually dwell in them.

This would offend the rest of everybody so much someone would actually come up with a use for the land and some startup money.

I also liked "Geo thermal exchange." Someone could drill or lay a geothermal system in the ground and heat/cool the Temporary Building Structures. Then when the TBS's were removed that geothermal setup would be all ready for more permanent users. This would actually be an enticement for development, and putting the original geothermal system in place wouldn't be prohibitively expensive. You could do the same with a solar panel system for either hot water or electricity or both.

The community dog poop can go in a community methane digester that keeps the Eternal Flame lit.

Until then I rate the Community Hammocks #1.

Yes! As long as it's being treated as a "dump," go for pet/baby poop disposal. Place one of those ugly Madison neighborhood-designation signs along the oh-so-recently refurbished, long-endured, East Washington Corridor: "Welcome to Madison: We Recycle Shit."

I'm not kidding either. It's a good idea to recycle the asphalt and concrete, I'm thinking -- why not do that closer to the source, say, at the long-proposed location of Central Park? This recycling of asphalt and concrete can also be done on site, where certain precious, very sensitive to recycling people live. It's their street, is it not? IMBY! Or in their own front yard (not that I have anything against them).

As to dog poop: I love dogs, and get mad when their owners deposit warm, stinking bags of their dog's poop into my trash bin. It's lazy and it's disgusting, and could get me a ticket.

Hey! You're the same person who said summers on the beer garden are too short! It'll seem a lot longer with a festering pile of fetid dog and baby poop marinating in what passes for the hot summer sun around here.

I vote ix-nay on that particular idea.

Oh I like the Malt House too. I meant the far back corner, near the houses.

But seriously, there must be a system where it would be underground with a device to burn off the methane, or somehow use it? Might not be any smell. Could happen.

Yep, just fill 'em up. Nothing says "America's Cultural History" like killing some Native Americans and then rhapsodizing abstractly about their loss.

My vote's for ice cream.

Madison needs a skateboard park. How hard would it be to put in right now close the E Wash so it could be watched closely. Not a permanently but for the time being until the casino is build. I know that most suggestions are not serious except for the reverse quarry, perhaps we could have a mountain installed it only has to be about 2000' tall to be the highest place in the state.

That's been tried a couple times in my recollection. Lawyers hate those things. Put one up, or even talk about it, and bam, they're circling like sharks.

Madison has plenty of lawyers but no skatepark. Evansville, Monona Middleton don't appear to have infestation of sharks, I mean lawyers.

In the field of marijuana would be a memorial to Ben Masel. Not sure what it would look like.

And maybe a food cart for when the munchies strike.
