UW/Playboy mystery finally solved?

For all you senior citizens out there, the "UW professional party school" quote from Playboy (Sept 68) has finally been located. It was posted online here:

Glad that's cleared up. Now we can get to work on figuring out whether Lizzie Borden really gave her mother 40 whacks, because some say it was only 38. The father definitely got 41.

He got them only after she saw what she had done.

Except that Lizzie had no direct effect on the makeup of the UW student body, or on the lives of potential UW students. This is best illustrated by the statement from Madisonian Bill Geist's blog that "I have a friend (and a once highly respected entrepreneur in this town) who was attending the University of Indiana and transferred to UW because he SWEARS he saw that article in Playboy."

The point being that hundreds, if not thousands, of college-age people had their lives permanently altered because of that statement in 1968. They either CHOSE to attend UW or chose NOT to attend UW (or had the decision
made for them by their parents) because of that goofy quote in Playboy.

When you consider that this would also have been true at dozens of other universities like Michigan State, Virginia, Oregon, etc, etc, you can see how the number of young people affected could have reached into the thousands.

We might also presume that the makeup of the UW student body was permanently altered, since that Playboy statement helped attract more of the "party-hearty" students and drove away some of the more serious ones.
