Any New Year's Eve reports

We low-keyed it with a visit to the Children's Museum with some friends and Despicable Me back at the ranch. Only celebrity sighting was Ken Lonnquist.

Flew back into town, shopped at Willy St Co-op [East], discovered Norman apple cider (2% alcohol) at Star Liquor, had low-key dinner at home, saw (well, heard) fireworks at 10pm, was fast asleep by 11:15pm. Woken up by cat at 6:30am.

Fast-paced, indeed!

Went to our farm.

The kids did sledding.

The dog ran around for hours collecting burrs.

I did some cooking.

Drank a couple of beers.

In bed by about 9:30.

Woke up for new years day feeling bright and chipper.

Started a new "tradition" this year, in quotes because continuing it in years to come may require staying home every year (unless I want to carry bacon in a zip-top bag in my purse).

Last food of 2010: Bacon.

Midnight: Kiss.

First food of 2011: Bacon.

We were probably asleep by 12:45.

Visited the Beermuda Triangle. Started at Malt House with a Dogfish Head Worldwide Stout. Proceeded to Ale Asylum where I imbibed a Ballistic IPA and a Satisfaction Jacksin. Moved on to Dexter's....had something good but forgot what it was. I wonder why.

Anyway, got home before midnight and ended up staying up until 2:30.

We were at Magnus for their final night. We have pretty fond memories of the place due both to the great food and drinks and due to the fact that we had our reception there. It was a great last meal despite the fact that they ran out of a few food items and a LOT of drink items (supposedly because of liquor licensing laws that wouldn't permit them to transfer alcoholic items to another restaurant/store). The menu was slightly different in terms of content and had a thank you note to the diners for supporting them over the years.

The place was completely packed and Chris Berge indicated that almost every table was a regular or someone he knew. He wore a ridiculous helmet with a horse mane and horns attached.

This was one of the best restaurants in Madison with unique an stellar food and drinks. I am very glad that we made it to their final night. It was bittersweet.
