...in anticipation of a (possible, not probable) motorcade drive-by.

The tension was so underwhelming, I was forced to return to my office.

Shortly after I arrived with my "HEMP IS JOBS" sign, MPD officers (names omitted to protect the guilty) told me "Ben, you can stand here if you want, but you REALLY want to stand across the street," and directed me to the spot where I was most visible to the President as he arrived for the highroller pre-rally event at the Concourse.
