Family friendly volunteer activities

Postby markkay » Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:11 am

My wife and I are looking for volunteer activities in town in which we can participate with our kids (ages 9 and 10). We'd prefer something that isn't religious, but we'd settle for something that isn't overtly religious. We've volunteered at The River food pantry, but the schedule isn't really good for the kids. Oh, and we'll be volunteering at the Orton Park Festival next weekend for the Wil-Mar center, which is right in our neighborhood. Any other ideas? Anybody have any experiences that they'd like to share? Thanks.

PS I wasn't sure which forum category to use, but Town Vibe looked better than Catch All.

Have you considered volunteering at an animal shelter? They can always use help socializing shelter animals, walking dogs, staffing adoption events, etc.

Just a few suggestions - I'm sure there are many more in the area: ... ortunities
