Blunt, Shipley, and other TDPF Alum

Postby MadMind75 » Fri Jul 23, 2010 12:24 am

Anyone else find it odd that the moment Blunt, Shipley, or any other TDPF alumni moved away, they never once submitted another post here on the forum?
We're missing out on the coveted Madison pasttime, the post-exit interview. Where's the gratitude? At least have the courtesy to check in and let us know how you're doing!

I used to post as cattyr, and missed this place immensely just recently. Glad to be back.

So did you move away? To where?

Actually, I used to live in rural Iowa County, but now live about a block away from Willy Street Coop. This is the best neighborhood in the world, as far as I'm concerned. (I grew up partly on Jenifer though, so perhaps a bit predispostioned to thinking that way.)

My previous job had me travelling nationally, so I do have some basis for comparison. Thank you for the kind words.

I left on a high note, with a tribute to Ace Hunter.

I withdrew, on purpose, from The Daily Page after moving because I wasn't in Madison anymore and wanted to try to make a life for myself in my new city, Washington DC. Dwelling on my 6 years in Wisconsin seemed counterproductive as I started a new life, with my new wife. We found out we were expecting our first child last September, and my life hasn't slowed down since.

I'm unhappy to report that there is no equivalent local forum I've found for DC or any surrounding cities. TDPF is unique and is all the more appreciated now that I'm not reading it daily.

My wife chimed in that it just seemed "irrelevant" because so much of what happens here on TDPF is whats happening in Madison, and we can't be a part of that anymore, and it just seems silly to fake it, right? The last thing I want to be is a Ned Flanders type, interjecting long after I succeed from the community.

Blunt I followed on facebook and twitter for a while, but I'll admit I dropped him because his shit was too abstract. I'm getting old and cranky.

Duca, I would love to get together for lunch or some such thing. If you see this post a reply and perhaps we can make arrangements.

I feel I should mention this post undoubtedly caused me to watch Megaforce again, and I even shared the glory with another Madison resident who had somehow never heard of it previously.

How much more frickin' relevant can you get? You are paying this butterfly effect forward and back!

Spokane, a city with a population of around 200,000, with near 500,000 in the county. Sound familiar?
Big difference being they "lack a main campus of a state-supported university within its city limits". What? You mean a city of similar size can survive without having a major University or being the center of State Government!?! Say it ain't so!
