Biz Beat: Madison ranked 7th best for bicycling
I'm a little surprised that four or five cities in the top 10 are cold-winter type cities. I thought more of them would have year-round cycling.

#1 Minneapolis, MN
#2 Portland, OR
#3 Boulder, CO
#4 Seattle, WA
#5 Eugene Oregon
#6 San Francisco, CA
#7 Madison, WI
#8 New York, NY
#9 Tucson, AZ
#10 Chicago, IL

Madison has year-round cycling. Usually the bike path I rode on this winter was plowed before the streets in my neighborhood. It just takes a little special equipment (face mask, goggles, studded tires) and you're rolling on the snow and ice no problem. This winter, only on a few days was the snow too deep, or the air too cold, to ride a few miles on the bike. I love ice biking - but partially because there's hardly anyone else on the path. I'm sure the "bike path walkers" thread will be revived as soon as the temperature breaks 70 again.

Congrats Madison on being a slightly less car-addicted city.
