Save the East Side vibe. Post anything.

Postby narcoleptish » Wed Dec 23, 2009 3:06 pm

Everyday I scroll down to my city section's section, and nothing changes. No offense to Butters, but I'm tired of seeing your name there since November.

So what's happening on the eastside?

ummmm.........

Chase bank Atwood got some major new bulletproofing this summer at the teller windows. Of course the exterior windows right behind the tellers are still just ordinary glass...

The burlesque clothing store in front of the Ohio tavern seems to be holding on. Good for them, I can't say I gave it much of a chance.

I saw one of the biggest planes I've ever seen landing in madison, today shortly after noon. It looked twice as big as the usual ones.

....Eastwood drive is still there.

Little help here...

Went to the Solstice Bonfire at Olbrich last Sunday. It was fun. Handphibians and those big eight foot tall puppet things, and kids sliding and a great big fire and even hot chocolate from Gail Ambrosius. Then we ate at Lao.

Jenifer St. Market has live lobsters.

Talula is still open - I never gave them much of a chance.

I used to play softball against two separate softball teams, in the same league, who were both sponsored by the Tip Top Tap. I've never been there, and just recently actually saw it in person. I don't know how two teams of mid-twenties men and all their hot, hot, hot girlfriends could fit in there after games.

The food at Papa Bear's is damn good.

I like the shop guys at the Willy Bikes on East Wash better than the ones on West Wash.

I liked Soggy better when he lived on the east side.

A sign on the Malt House door says they're open from noon until I think six on Christmas Eve, so it's possible to ditch relatives and lace up the skates tomorrow for holiday cheer. The Great Lakes Christmas Ale is tasty.

The employees at Hy Vee are so genuinely friendly it's a little eerie. Hy Vee's Tom & Jerry mix is tasty, too.

Happy holidays!

A couple guys on my frisbee team last fall would go regularly to Woody & Anne's, cuz they have an O.G. shufflepuck game. I never knew anyone that had been there.

We have people canvassing for County board already up here on the Northside.

Has there ever been a viable live music venue on the Northside?

I get my hair cut at Designs by the Bay, 1941 Winnebago.

I live 20 miles away from the East Side vibe.

I always wonder what "Bay" they're talking about. Any idea? Did they misspell bank?

Fyfe's was the only sign of life, after 5:00, from there to First st. It seems to be settling into Mullins vacancy mode quite smoothly.

[quote="acereraser" cuz they have an O.G. shufflepuck game. [/quote]

I'm so far east I'm basically west Cottage Grove, but hey, it's all good in the 'hood.

Door Creek Church is still incredibly huge. What the heck denomination is it, anyway? $20? $50?

Jovian's fine for drinking drinks and looking down on the Capitol (although don't we all do that from anywhere?), but the menu is shrinking in breadth and the prices ain't following.

I bet that was a charter flight to Orlando for the Badger football hootenanny.

I saw Air Force One take off from Truax a few weeks ago. I bet it was bigger!

The game isn't until the 29th and bowl charter packages are usually for only three or four days.

I know the team and support staff left yesterday. How big is that charter plane?

This plane seemed to me as big as a 747 but with only one large engine on each wing. I thought maybe bad weather re-routed it here. Actually it probably wasn't as big as the military cargo planes that occasionally shake the sky over my house.

BookP. ....what drove you out to the edge of the city? I thought I remember you talking about leaving town awhile back.
