What are the things that puzzle, enrage, delight and tickle you as you go about your life in Madison?

When I first started picking them off into sudsy water, I was using gardening gloves. That got old, and I got over the ick factor. Bare hands work much better, and it doesn't bother me.
As was noted, the bug bucket will seriously stink after a few days.
We were in the middle of Lake Mendota on Saturday, and I do mean out in the very middle, and the beetles were EVERYWHERE. Those of us in the water only had to contend with floaters, easily waved away on the surface of the water. But the people on the boat were getting divebombed so badly (we could see it happening from 50 feet away—crazy!) that we finally had to abandon our nice, clear swimming spot, fire up the boat, and cruise away. We spent the rest of the afternoon picking beetles off towels, seats, and each other. I've never seen anything like it.
