When I first started picking them off into sudsy water, I was using gardening gloves. That got old, and I got over the ick factor. Bare hands work much better, and it doesn't bother me.

As was noted, the bug bucket will seriously stink after a few days.

It was like a swingers party going on atop my beloved roses.

There were stacks of 3-4 per 'cluster'

We were in the middle of Lake Mendota on Saturday, and I do mean out in the very middle, and the beetles were EVERYWHERE. Those of us in the water only had to contend with floaters, easily waved away on the surface of the water. But the people on the boat were getting divebombed so badly (we could see it happening from 50 feet away—crazy!) that we finally had to abandon our nice, clear swimming spot, fire up the boat, and cruise away. We spent the rest of the afternoon picking beetles off towels, seats, and each other. I've never seen anything like it.

Just wait until they crossbreed with the millipedes!

I must admit that when I saw this thread, my first thought was:

But of course,
Yoko was NOT a Beatle!
Despite John's effort to make it so. :P
