Sheriff Dave Mahoney is Good

Where are all the other 'principled' people?

Dane County has been subject to much ridicule in the last 6 or so years over principled outrage.
I find it curious that this reasonable discourse with the sheriff's constituents popped through heavy handed redaction.
My fear: no good deed goes unpunished.
God I hope I'm wrong.

I think the Sheriff's job is safe, if that's what you're worried about. The only way he won't be reelected is if he chooses not to run again.

I give him points for advocating for better mental health care in Dane County Jail.

What 'I'm worried about' is the carefully disruptive,
When done right you're to tired to see it coming.

Dave is a great sheriff and a better person.

I have know him my whole life. He grew up on the other side of Parkcrest pool from us. His brother Jim was in our Scout troop and his sister Molly was my sister's best friend growing up. We use to go to their house and jump on their trampoline. No net, no supervision.

When we bump into each other about once a year or so he always calls me by first name and asks how my mother is doing.

Good to hear that,

I've voted for him every time except his first run, when the opponent was someone who had helped me out with some car trouble when I first moved to town, and also had a kid on the same grade school soccer team as my kid. Except for that one time, I have voted for Mahoney.

Just goes to show how local politics can be. His first race was two great guys running against each other, so a no-lose proposition.

Over the last week or so I have been hearing his name being mentioned as a possible candidate for governor. I could get behind that.

That's an intriguing prospect. I'd vote for him.
