The Wisconsin Supreme Court and the Republican Party

Postby Henry Vilas » Sat Mar 25, 2017 9:09 am

The Wisconsin Supreme Court is suppose to be nonpartisan and there are ethics rules to that effect. But it looks like Justice Michael Gableman didn't get the memo.

A Democratic Party official has filed a complaint against conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman for appearing in promotional materials as a featured speaker for a recent local Republican Party fundraiser.

Gableman ultimately didn’t attend the event, according to another speaker, but the state’s code of judicial conduct prohibits a judge from actively participating in political party promotions and also from “using the prestige of judicial office for fundraising or membership solicitation.”

Maybe he slept through the night school ethics class at the prestigious Hamline University School of Law.

Maybe the Dem official and Henry slept through the part where Gableman ultimately didn’t attend the event.

Maybe you didn't read the entire article. His name appeared on a fund raising mailing which in itself is a violation, whether or not be actually showed up to speak.
