Superintendent Of Public Instruction, Evers4Ever

Seems like a simple choice. If you like Betsy DeVos and vouchers, vote for Humphries. Otherwise, reelect Tony Evers.

State superintendent candidate: Challenger offered 6-figure job to drop out of race

Candidate John Humphries said in an interview with the Wisconsin State Journal that during discussions between him and opponent Lowell Holtz, Holtz proposed in writing that either he or Humphries should drop out in exchange for the guaranteed three-year job with the Department of Public Instruction should one of them defeat incumbent Tony Evers in the general election.

Is that even legal? It certainly is unethical.

I don't understand. Holtz is saying one of them should drop out and take a $150,000 State job? How would this help them defeat Evers? Where is the $150,000 State job?

It's so opponents to Evers don't split the vote. The job would be with the Department of Public Instruction (if one of the opponents wins office).

ok but feb 21 is a primary, right? One of them will be eliminated and one will face Evers. I don't see how one of them dropping out would help there. Splitting the vote will still allow one to advance against Evers.

Tony Evers: Alleged job offer to take over school districts 'massive power grab'

Even Walker thinks this is nuts.

State Superintendent Tony Evers on Thursday called on his opponents to release more details about an alleged plan -- crafted at the request of unnamed business leaders -- to take over the state's urban school districts.

The plan came to light Wednesday when candidate John Humphries revealed that a third candidate, Lowell Holtz, offered Humphries a taxpayer-funded $150,000 job if he dropped out of the race and sought the same for himself if he were the one to drop out -- political jockeying that Gov. Scott Walker described Thursday as "bizarre."

Maybe the guys who are accusing each other of improprieties should be: 1) given lie-detector tests; 2) water boarded.

I was #56 at Olbrich Gardens around 8:15a. Parking lot was almost empty, no line, but there was a steady trickle of voters coming in while I was there and when I left (including a young couple who seem to have taken turns voting and minding the dog). If the weather stays this nice I predict a lot of evening strolls will wind up over at the Olbrich polling place. People in my neighborhood tend to care a lot about schools.

Evers kicked some serious ass yesterday.
