Justice Roberts said political science is ‘sociological gobbledygook.’ Here’s why he said it, and why he’s mistaken.

Robert's argument is basically "who am I to judge"?

Dude that is literally your fucking job!

That was so arrogant. Other people put in a few extra hours at crunch time, but not the godlike Chief Justice. No way.

Not a lot of things make me mad, but those remarks did. He thinks he's too important to dig in and actually do his job.

He pretty much declared he had no idea of the substance of the arguments being presented and furthermore didn't care.

We are used to Clarence Thomas lying there in his chair doing nothing, but for Roberts to sit up straight and basically take the same approach in an insult to Americans as a group.

Pennsylvania court orders new congressional map due to gerrymandering
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa- ... SKBN1FB2N8

"Pennsylvania’s top court on Monday threw out the state’s congressional map, ruling that Republican legislators unlawfully sought partisan advantage, and gave them three weeks to rework it in a decision that could boost Democratic chances of retaking the U.S. House of Representatives.

In a 5-2 decision, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled the electoral map violated the state’s Constitution by manipulating the district boundaries to marginalize Democratic voters, a practice called partisan gerrymandering.

Democrats, who hold only five of the state’s 18 congressional districts despite Pennsylvania’s status as an electoral swing state, hope to regain control of the House in the November mid-term elections by flipping 24 seats now held by Republicans nationwide. A new map could give Democratic candidates a chance to capture as many as half a dozen Republican seats in Pennsylvania alone, with national polls showing voters strongly favoring Democrats in 2018.

The court’s five Democratic members said the congressional map “clearly, plainly and palpably violates the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.” Both Republican justices dissented".

A win against gerrymandering. More battles coming.

Supreme Court declines request from Pennsylvania GOP to stop redistricting
https://www.channel3000.com/news/politi ... /697003609

"The Supreme Court declined Monday a request from Pennsylvania Republicans to block a lower court ruling that ordered Pennsylvania to redraw congressional lines. Justice Samuel Alito issued the order.

The ruling will have massive ramifications for the 2018 midterm elections, where Republicans' control of the US House is on the line and Democrats are targeting a handful of GOP-held seats in Pennsylvania."

so he must think that, by extension, sociology is goggledygook . . . no wonder some folks appear to be so clueless when it comes to anything having to do with making things easier for people . . .
