Yep, kind of hard to ascribe the value of commitment to a cause to a person who quit the race.

Come on, guys - at least give the Cap Times a little credit for their hard-hitting headline: There’s value in competitive school board races

Does John Nichols channel Neil Heinen or does Neil Heinen channel John Nichols? Or is it the other way around?

My letter to Fanlund and Nichols:

With all due respect, Paul, that editorial was pathetic. Speaking truth to power also means speaking truth to our friends. Sarah Manski betrayed the trust of this community by even running for the School Board knowing she might be moving to California. And all you can say is "did the right thing" when she quit two
days after the primary? Seriously? And this:

But after she learned that her husband had been accepted for graduate school in California, she recognized that it is not appropriate to seek a term of office she could not complete.

Do you really believe she learned about Ben applying to Cal AFTER the primary? Really??

I am profoundly disappointed in the Cap Times for its handling of this matter. Would Mr. Evjue or Miles McMillin have swept this under the rug as you have?

Please reconsider, and write an editorial worthy of your heritage.

thanks
Stu

Excellent letter, Stu.

Btw, is it true that John Nichols, as president of the Soros-funded Liberty Tree Foundation, employs both Ben and Sarah Manski?

Not to defend her, but I don't think she ever said she wasn't aware that he *applied* there. Rather that he was *accepted* there (and/or rejected by WI schools).

Pathetic indeed, and worth the paper it's (not) printed on.

A weaselly pathetic editorial. If you did not know better, after reading it you would probably think that Sarah Manski should be congratulated for unselfishly and magnanimously withdrawing from the race. I expect so much more from the Capital Times.

I'm disappointed in this editorial, I'm sure John Nichols could have worked a plug for Sly's radio show somewhere in there.

I was impressed, frankly. I had no idea the Cap Times still had a print edition.

Got an answer of sorts from Nichols.

Now please answer my question -- when you posted the link to Blaska's column, were you being intellectually dishonest, or just showing poor reading skills? Because you know, I trust, that the column had nothing to do with Mertz and Sarah Manski's school board campaign.

Thanks.
