I saw that bathroom story a few weeks ago. Based on the pictures, neither my boss or I could find a way to justify $220K on that washroom. Maybe the shower doubles as an escape elevator to a super secret underground bunker.

Half a million to renovate an industrial sized kitchen for safety issues isn't that crazy. Especially if the repairs were ultimately going to be paid by private donations anyway.

Aides to Republicans and Democrats on the commission confirmed Tuesday the first lady had expressed intent months ago to raise the money privately, although the money would be borrowed upfront by the state.

Friends of mine have opened several successful restaurants in Madison & they never paid even 1/2 that much to remodel the whole shebang. I'm assuming imported marble.....
