Why italicize "confirmed"? It needs to be in quotation marks precisely because it has not yet been confirmed.

It's plausible, after all, what difference will a few more indictments make.

Maybe if you are stupid enough to listen to a robocall in the first place and then believe what it says, society would be better off if you didn't exercise your right to vote. Much ado about nothing.

Kind of like we know George Zimmerman shot Travon Martin but it hasn't been confirmed in court?

Not "fixt". Rewritten to show your bias. You must reread my entry, it talks of robocalls, not candidates. Maybe you do listen to them. Good luck with that.

I just finished a long, fruitless discussion with a couple conservatives to try and resolve the dilemma with fraud/voter suppression.

Conservatives will never see voter suppression as legitimate issue.
Liberals will never see fraud as legitimate concern.

I propose that we adopt a very strong form of ID, and then undergo an outreach campaign to insure that 99% of all citizens have such ID. Spend money on setting-up more offices to distribute IDs, etc. Then make pocession of this ID a precondition for recieving any and all government services.

Well, from my perspective, this deal is slanted HEAVILY in favor of addressing Republican concerns. We're cutting down on illegal immigration, welfare fraud, voting fraud, etc.

What is response from conservatives? No go. They like everything about the plan except the part about active effort to ensure IDs are broadly available.

In other words, they support greater ID restriction, will give absolutely ZERO in return.

These conservatives are not particularly dicks, BTW. They are nice enough guys, not extreme.

Conservatives have completely forgotten what compromise means. Even an favorable compromise where they get most of what they want. This is hardly shocking news, but we are in for a hell of a mess trying to solve any problem in this country.

Um, OK. Forgive me for not trusting you, but just exactly what is your 'proof' to confirm this?

Will our GOP and RW friends acknowledge this

I dunno--far as I know, you're just some shopping cart crazy going round and round the capitol. Or getting your confirmation of your beliefs from such a being.

You've gotta do better than that--remember, I'm not a leftist.

I wonder if Stu Levitan will follow up on this. As I understand it, he has quite a reputation as a historian/journalist so it would surprise me if he didn't return to report on the veracity of the "confirmed" assertion he made here.

Did your conservative friends offer any numbers or factual information on incidents and frequency of fraud that they are responding to?
