MY gun rights

Postby stroll » Wed Jul 15, 2009 9:58 am

Proposed laws requiring me to buy a gun safe and use it when I leave home.

Why should I be required to buy a heavy gun safe and then use it when I leave home?
I ought to be able to do what thousands of other stupid, irresponsible gun owners LEGALLY do:
when I leave home-leave my loaded handgun on my living room table in full view of passersby on the sidewalk-or on MY FRONT PORCH if I want to!
after all-
IT'S MY PROPERTY, DAMN IT!!!!!!

Don't anyone tell me I'm irresponsible. I'm no worse than all the hundreds of thousands of handgun owners who leave their loaded gun in a closet, under the pillow or between the mattresses!

The only way I would buy a gun safe and use it when I leave home is if they passed a law requiring me to buy one, with a $5000 fine and jail time if the gun is stolen and used in a crime and it's traced back to me and police determine it wasn't locked in the safe when it was stolen. That way, I'de probably go out and buy a safe for $125.

Unless they pass a law like that- I'll continue to leave my loaded gun anywhere I please- on MY property!

My other option is just to take my handgun with me in my car when I leave home. That way I have complete control over it. That way, if I return home and there's a crook in my house-I'll be armed.

Mike

If you return home and there's a crook in your house, they'll be pointing your gun at you.

stroll - I have a slightly used gun safe for sale. Please let me know if you would like to buy it from me, or, I'll trade it to you for your gun.

I have a hard time figuring out what to do with my loaded handgun when i'm taking a pizza out of the oven. Do i just stick it in my armpit, or do i hold it between my chin and neck?

How's that. They'll need a forklift and 5 hours to find and remove my gun safe from my home! (without alerting the neighbors)

If I take my gun with me, I'll have it -the crook won't.

The only way the crook will have a gun pointed at me is if he got it from some other gun owner who was to cheap and too stupid to secure it like I do mine!

Hand it to your five-year old to hold for you. Then use his switchblade to cut the pizza.

Stroll is absolutely right. You have to be prepared for every situation at all times regardless of how likely. This is why I wear my tin foil hat when I'm in the shower every day and keep a wooden stake, garlic, and holy water in my fanny pack at all times.

If you're former Madison Police Chief Richard Williams, you don't have to worry about that -- your gun is already in the oven.

So Mike, what you are really saying is pass a law requiring one to buy and use a gun safe, or they will be subject to a $5,000 fine, and jail time if the gun is used in a crime?

I’m sold, and I like your arguing style!

Careful what you reach for when you wipe. You do wipe?

I can't keep track of all my guns!
It sucks having only one trigger finger (lost the other in a dyke).
