Common Sense Coalition Waning?

Postby om » Tue Apr 24, 2007 11:07 am

In a recent visit to the Common Sense Coalition website, I observed that there are no new updates or additions since August or so of 2006. Nothing from 2007.

Does this mean they have finally lost their vim and vigor, their dash and aplomb, and are now meekly retreating into the obscuring mists of oblivion, whence they drew?

No.

They can't lose something they never had.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but their whole purpose was to build a coalition to oppose Cieslewicz and PD candidates in the spring election, right?

Even if they'd been successful, their job would be done.

They are making popcorn and chilling soda so they can sit back and watch the continuing self-destruction of PD and the very public meltdown of one of its formerly semi-coherent and formerly powerful members.

Oh, don't be all that way now. :D

I don't disagree with the last bit of your original post re: meltdowns etc, but this "coalition" of raging moderates has hardly shown itself to even approach relevance.

All those press releases, all that sturm und drang about a supposed silent majority whos had it and ain't gonna take it anymore and.....what happens?

A progressive mayor stomps the shit out of the pro-business candidate, PD loses one seat officially (and that's not counting someone like Julia Kerr who's ideologically aligned with them but didn't bother with the organizational affiliation).

Forgive us for not quivering in our boots before the centrist stampede over MCC's cable surcharge or whatever has their suburban panties in a wad these days.

The proper term is panites. Suburban panites.

And he was sooooooooo modest and self-effacing in his campaign. Besides he now flies sans PD baggage aboard, so again you being irrelevant.

And which of the candidates outspent all others, counter to the populist PD theory of campaigning. Oh yeah, the PD who lost palms down.

You are forgiven. Say hello to my late grandma when you pass her tombstone while whistling through the grave yard.

How ya going be raging and moderate at the same time? Wouldn't that be like being both progressive and prudent at the same time?

Ah, those rich and heady halcion days of moderation, when the promise of vigorous economic development buzzed alive in the air like a hive a bees waking from a long winter's slumber.

Fevered reveries of TIF money flowing like mead from the mighty horn of Odin.

And now ... silence *sniff*

Michael Quigley, we hardly knew ya'
