Just wondering why you didn't go the absentee ballot route.
I wish I could have but I had to take a trip on really short notice. What is the lead time for an absentee ballot? Could I have gotten one the day before I left (last Thursday)?

You could have gone down to the City/County building and vote there at the City Clerk's office.

I think Kathleen wins today because while she hasn't run the best of campaigns (relying too heavily on insiders and running a negative ad that has clearly angered some voters), Peg has run an absolutely horrible campaign.

But, do we care?

If we are happy with Ms. Lautenschlager's performance, who cares about her campaign.
We care because this thread is not about why you voted for so and so, but how each candidate will fare in the primary which is largely a result of how well they campaigned.

If Peg wins today I'm going to start caring very much.

Damn, I didn't know that.

And Peg will have a revamped campaign when she wins.

Jesus Christ, Jay! You can't handle a simple Internet poll yet you came within a few hundred votes of being handed control of F'Burg? :P

I know...it's sad, isn't it?

My business moved over the weekend, and my wife pointed out that last night was the first time in a week that I slept for more than four hours (I got six hours of sleep).

I am still pretty tired. I will see how I do with a real ballot this afternoon.

I probably should just be taken out back and shot, though...

Good point, though I am not certain how unbiased this forum would ultimately be in analyzing the shortfalls or not of the Republican candidate's campaign.

And, even if we do undertake a careful analysis, to what end? Predicting the winner?

I guess - at some point - analysis of how the campaign was run becomes much less important to me than the person seeking office.

Granted, I would like the best candidate to get their message out and persuade the most people, but - sadly - even I am not so naive to think this happens very often.

Peg/Herb because I'm a longtime, real Democrat, not a Green or a PDer or a Libertarian or anything else and so are they. Voted for Mahoney and Ross for sheriff and SOS, too, for the same reason. At our house we each wrote in Kathleen Falk for governor so we could vote for a real Dem for governor, too, although she's kind of a Johnny-come-lately to our party.

You know Mahoney, on his website, apologized to his supporters for them having to vote in the Dem primaries in order to vote for him, right?

Yes, I know. We real Democrats are big tent folks, not single-minded enforcers of ideological litmus tests. Dave Mahoney is a real Dem. I know personally every person I named in my first post.

Peg/Ben

I'm still writing in Stu Levitan, independent Dem for gov, in this and the next election. I urge all of you to do the same.

Peg/Ben here too.

Was THAT close to writing in Stu for 76th Assembly but fought it off.
