Futurama Nerdgasm Central (episodes, lines, new DVDs)

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

Futurama Nerdgasm Central (episodes, lines, new DVDs)

Postby thebookpolice » Fri Apr 20, 2007 11:33 am

**title edited to reflect the evolving use of this thread**

Not like I don't own all the DVDs or anything (I could watch Futurama all day, every day, on a persistent loop), but just the commercial for the marathon makes me laugh hysterically.

Anyway, tune in Sunday night at 9pm for eight straight episodes inlaid with the beaks of a thousand eagles. Also, there are some eagles under the floorboards.

Use this thread to post your favorite Futurama moments and give everyone a thread to print out for cramming prior to the next MadPubQuiz.

Now here's a show I appreciated far too little during its network run.

Though, to be fair, the network didn't make it any too easy, especially during football season.

I loves me some Futurama. Fave episodes are: "Amazonians In The Mood" and "Roswell that Ends Well"

I enjoy the John Goodman as evil robot Santa Claus episode.

That was on AS just last night. ...or the night before?
Death by Snu Snu!

This was on recently, too: "Please gentlemen. We must put an end to the bloodshed. We've all seen too many body bags and ball sacks."

The episode "Jurassic Bark" makes me sob uncontrollably.

If only they could bring Futurama back like Family Guy, but then again, it probably could never be as good.

Edit: almost forgot-- Fry: "Ugh, it's like there's a party in my mouth and everyone's throwing up."

Videogame fan that I am, I'm quite fond of Raiders of the Lost Arcade

Richard Nixon: "Good evening, ignorant pigs. Put down your crack pipes and your beer bongs and pay attention ..."

Fry: "I know that monkey! His name is donkey!"
Prof. Farnsworth: "Monkeys aren't donkeys! Quit messing with my head!"

Lur: "Tremble in fear at our three different kinds of ships!"

Mrs. Lur: "We're losing ships, Lur. What are your orders?"
Lur: "Increase speed, drop down and reverse direction!"

Fry: "Amy, tend to the widow Pac-Man."

Lur: "You are defeated! Instead of shooting where I was, you should have shot at where I was going to be! Muwhahahahahahaha!"

Family Guy sure wasn't, IMO.

Truly brutal. The S.O. can't watch it anymore. You feel like they made that episode after they found out they were cancelled, just to kick the viewers in the balls a little. Sort of a "if we don't have to make with the funny to keep our jobs anymore, we're going to tear your heart out and barf on it."

Exactly. Plus, look at the Simpsons the last few seasons. The spark just isn't there anymore, imHo.

I'd say the "spark" may be gone, but that still leaves it as the funniest show on network television.

This may well be the last season, but I'd be fine and dandy with them keeping that ship afloat for as long as they care to as they've yet to do anything to make me tune out (although I do sorta dread each years' new "3 stories" show ...)

True, I'd rather watch one of The Simpsons' average-to-lesser episodes than most series' best.

Weird thing about The Simpsons is, I never go looking for it in its network first-run. I've fallen so comfortably into the pattern of watching the reruns from 6 to 7 each weeknight that I'm content to wait to watch them there.

OK, that's not a weird thing about The Simpsons, it's a weird thing about me. Whatever.

Aren't there new episodes being aired in 2008 on Comedy Central?
