What books, zines or other pulp are you reading? What aren't you reading? What should everyone else read?

Any of you reader-types been following the big wave of "wow" reviews for the new Jonathan Franzen novel ("Freedom")? WHAT IS YOUR TAKE? Is he really truly a "voice of a generation" who tells us about "the lives we lead today"? Anyone read the new book yet?

I read "The Corrections" way back when it came out and enjoyed it a lot, though even then it seemed a little over-praised. (I know - everything is overvalued or undervalued, right?)

Went back and re-read it a few months ago on account of all the Franzen-mania and it didn't seem as good - too much whining, too much upper-middle-class-malaise, etc. I'm not saying it's bad at all, but really just a smarter-than-average work of pop-fiction with some pretensions.
