The Adventures of the Ingenious Alfanhui
by Rafael Sanchez Ferlosio, the son of a Spanish father and an Italian mother, was born in Rome in 1927. He is one of Spain's most celebrated novelists. And writes like a heretical George McDonald.
Alfanhui, an apprentice to a taxidermist, carries out extraordinary experiments and travels around Castile in search of knowledge.
Excellent psychadelic glittering tapestry woven of colors and symbols and disguised as a children's book. Strangely compelling, dark and horribly beautiful--definitely not a children's book.
Short hypnotic chapters fall like dominos to reveal an infinitely petalled magickal fable.
