Best to avoid Ecaudor and Japan until they simmer down. Unless you want to help them dig out.

I've been trying to find that first place on a map, with no luck. The photos of landslides in Kyushu were startling, though.

That's because there is no such place. It's ECUADOR. South America, on the Pacific Coast down thete.

And by sheer coincidence, it straddles the equator! (Along with southern Colombia and northern Brazil.)

Equatorial Guinea, on the other hand, is a ways off the mark — saved by virtue of a tiny southern island that falls within its territorial boundary.
