Mickey's, Sat. 6/30, 10 pm: The Ants, Aunt Goodness Twelve

Got a gig coming up? A CD coming out? A new bass player who looks like Jesus and smells like a field of posies? If you're selling or promoting something, post it here.

Mickey's, Sat. 6/30, 10 pm: The Ants, Aunt Goodness Twelve

Postby minicat » Thu Jun 28, 2007 9:21 am

Both types of A(u)nts will be on display Saturday night:

Mickey's Tavern
1524 Williamson St.
10 pm
no cover charge

The Ants are from Kansas City. One reviewer tackling their recently-released third album finds hints in their sound of the following: The Doors, The Band, Pavement, The Meat Puppets, Jerry Garcia, The Minutemen, Steely Dan and Jimi Hendrix. If you'd like to find out how these things combine, or how they'll all fit in the corner at Mickey's, Saturday is your chance.

The Aunt Goodness Twelve contains Aunt Goodness and a twelve-string guitar crusher playing some of their songs and some songs by other people, all still to be determined. If you know these folks and there's something you'd like to hear, now's the time to make your voice heard. No, we won't play Tie Your Mother Down.

Well, I don't know about you, but I can't play that song. Unless I steal Kyle Motor's soul before Saturday.

Yeah, I know. I can't play it either. But a girl can dream, right?

I encourage you to do this for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with my wanting to hear Queen.

Well, of course I can't provide a quote until I see it for myself.

I'm guessing Kyle's has seen some wear and tear.

I believe Kyle would like to hear you cover "Indian Giver".

If Goodness is also playing her geetar, shouldn't it be called the Aunt Goodness 18? Also I would like to hear you cover "Punky's Dilema"

Hmm. I bet that'd sound real good strummed poorly on 12-string. heh.

I recently read someone saying that Punky Meadows was a more fluid guitar player than Jeff Beck. I believe it. Angel was an excellent band.

You would believe a drummer on a question of guitar-playing ability.

I prefer to believe Frank, who merely suggested that Punky contained more fluid than Jeff Beck.
