La Fete de Marquette 7/12-715 w/ Dumpstaphunk

Got a gig coming up? A CD coming out? A new bass player who looks like Jesus and smells like a field of posies? If you're selling or promoting something, post it here.

Here's pretty much the final lineup for La Fete de Marquette. It should be spectacular. Please spread the word. For more detailed info check the MNA website. http://www.marquette-neighborhood.org/f ... ry_id=2209

2 bands at Bastille Days in Milw. also

Both Samba Mapangala and the Orchestra Virunga and the French rockers Treize a Table will be on the Bastille Days main stage Friday night. A little cooperation going on there helped bring these fine bands to town.

Unbelievable lineup! Great work, Mr. Queen et al. Rumors have it that there will be a brass band led procession from the Capitol Square to Central Park on Saturday afternoon?

Saturday Second Line

Postby madmax » Thu Jun 28, 2007 10:20 pm

The Hot 8 Brass Band was at one time going to play at the Art Fair late afternoon on Sat. 7/14 and then head down the hill to La fete. This went away when the NOLA band found a decent gig in Chi. on that night. So the Hot 8 will play 3 times for us Friday at the High Noon at 8pm, Saturday early evening at La Fete and mid-afternoon on Sunday also at Central Park on Jour de Louisiane. Mama DigDowns will be out and about on Sunday late morning marching people down to the park. They mentioned a Willy St. route but you could check their website.

An incredible lineup, regardless. Looks like Milwaukee's Bastille Days learned a lesson from La Fete and expanded their musical offerings this year - though, overall, their lineup is weak compared to the breadth and depth coming to Madison. C'est formidable!

La Fete news

Postby madmax » Sat Jul 07, 2007 10:15 am

Thanks for the kind words. The Hot 8 will be in town on Saturday 7/14. The possibility of a second line parade from the square to Central Park could be discussed with them. Also the band is looking for work in Madison late that night. The Crystal and the Weary have been appraoched for after-La Fete parties.
I'll keep this forum updated.
