Best Place to Buy Regional Foods in Madison

Postby Henry Chinaski » Wed Jun 15, 2016 2:43 pm

My recent High School Grad is going to school at Temple in the Fall and I've been tasked with finding "Philadelphia " food for his graduation party. Is there any place in Madison where one can find Birch Soda,Herr's chips and god help me, scrapple?

I recall seeing Herr's chips at Menards, but it's been a while since I've been there. As for Sweepins...I mean, Scrapple, Woodmans used to carry it in the frozen section. But I think it was Jones Farm brand, so not exactly an authentic (to the region) version.

Thanks for the Menard's tip! According to the Menard's site Herr's chips are available at all of the Madison area stores. (Sorry, NOT available online). I don't know how authentic the scrapple has to be. I'm guessing it will be more for decoration than consumption, kind of like lutefisk at Syttende Mai.
