LAY'S PAYS JAY'S FOR ITS SHAMEFUL WAYS

Postby blunt » Fri Jul 23, 2004 12:38 pm

Frito Lay says "Chicagoans prefer their chips to Jay's."
Jay's sues.
The judge finds that Lay's did shoddy reseach and asks to see the data.
Lay's say oops, the focus group company had a fire just that weekend and those particular documents burned up.
Judeg says, "You lose" and orders Lay's to immediately stop the ads and take down all the billboards.
Lay's asks could they please have a little time to take them down?
Judge says, NO--you can put 'em up, you can take 'em down.

All this right as Jay's is emerging from bankruptcy.
I like Jay's.
I like Uncle Ray's.
I like Lay's.
I don't like Old Dutch.

Do Forons like Lay's better than Jay's?
What is the best damn potato chip in the universe?

while we're on this chipster thread, have you seen the roasted chicken flavor potato chips? i think they were old dutch, but might have lay's. we grabbed a bag whilst visiting the northern climes of the state; a friend tells me that chicken chips are big in canada. i thought they tasted like chicken-in-a-biscuit crackers.

Actually, I, too, love laying crumpled in the corner of the bar in a permanent pucker from those damn things.

Anyone here ever try Mrs. Fishers? They are only available in Rockford and the surrounding area. You can usually find them in gas stations along the highway (try Beloit exits and later) while on the way to Chicago. That's where I get them at least.

Hands down the best chip I have ever eaten. They seem to be cooked at a very low temperature, as they are oddly light in color and retain a ton of potato taste.

The packaging is hilarious. It features an anthropomorphized potato dancing with two children. It kinda scared me when I was a kid.

The worst chips I ever had were Lamb and Mint flavored. Got 'em at a rest stop in France. Spat them out into the bushes at the rest stop in France.

Ugh.

I was raised on Mrs Fishers. They will ship anywhere in the US. http://www.mrsfisherschips.com/
I used to go to the factory as a kid and get the broken chips at a cheap price.
In school my lunch consisted of 2 bags of Fishers and a milk.
The closest place that sells them is Woodmans in Beloit.
Two others from Rockford that are very similar in flavor:
Mr. D's and Mr Salty
They are the greasiest chips ever. Yummy!!

Well, that explains a lot.

Current fave is Miss Vickie's, they are all good but I'm in a sea salt and vinegar phase.
