FYI re AIM

Postby Kenneth Burns » Thu Dec 23, 2010 1:22 pm

Next to my forum posts there is a little icon you can click if you wish to contact me via AOL Instant Messenger. If you think you might try to reach me on AIM, be forewarned that I haven't logged in since 2003.

I don't mean the paid AOL service but rather the free AOL Instant Messenger client. My chums and I used to have a whale of a time with it.

In terms of paid services I was a Prodigy man. I used to read my emails four lines at a time just like everyone else.

Does ICQ still exist? Or has it been Facebooked out of existence as well?

Good question. I also had an IRC phase.

I think people still do IRC but it's mostly groups with a longstanding internet relationship. Nobody goes on IRC any more just fishing around for somebody to talk to.

Next to my forum name there's a Yahoo symbol, and I've never used that at all. They should get rid of the whole symbol thing.

It simply does not get any more ancient than cattyr. I see AIM and think American Indian Movement. Help!
