It may be some time yet, but this is (or should be) the future of internet access.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler has also claimed authority to preempt state laws preventing community broadband (http://www.fcc.gov/blog/removing-barrie ... -broadband):

Ah... always nice to see my inept stupidity enshrined as an award-winning post (there are prizes for posts that make the cut for this thread, right? I sure hope the award is a fudgesicle, cuz that was my last one.)

Or would he be better for the 50 cent piece?

'Cause it was all just a big fat unfortunate coincidence?  The kind that's just bound to happen when one of those crazy conservative love fests get going -- the wild abandon, the free market ideas, the intellectual passion, suddenly corporate CEO's and trust fund babies are throwing money around and GOP consultants are talking media strategy and the 501c independent social welfare groups get sucked in and pretty soon there are e-mails and commercials and shadowy grassroots campaigns that never ever happen to mention a candidate...  What can I say?  Kids will be kids.  The folly of youth.

And it's not like anyone planned for it to happen that way, any more than Governor Walker's policies are deliberately crafted to harm his despicable political enemies and help his rich, virtuous, like-minded friends.  Who like to give him money just to be his own wonderful principled self and also like to give money to his favorite principled ideologically-driven non-profits so they can educate voters about what a great ideological job he is doing in Wisconsin, helping all of his hard working, principled friends.  See how that works?  Nothing but random outcomes and unrelated events.  No causal connection here.  Only an evil sneak would say different.

Also... Jim Doyle!  In case you've still got any questions.

There is a whole lot of ugly on this here forum lately.
The bully-like behavior is not becoming to a civilized society.
The world's problems will not be settled by berating and acting like fuckwads and asshats. Some people (and you know who you are) need to step away from the computer and maybe do some good in the real world.

I'm not currently licensed to practice law in this state, so this may not be correct, but one appears to be second or 3rd base and the other a home run.

I agree with the extremely surreal vibe that surrounded the next few days - I remember that literally every channel was covering the WTC site - even Lifetime and MTV. Sitting on a futon with my friends, sort of all piled up in blankets and huddled, just flipping channels.
I was a sophomore in college and I worked part time at a daycare - one of the little boys was in his "obsessed with airplanes" phase and kept asking why there were no planes (he used to stand at the fence and count them - there were usually at least 2-3 during outside time)

It did seem to help a bit. I sometimes turn into mother/teacher mode and feel some people need a time out. There are various opinions and personalities on this forum. And we all need to try not to feed the cyclic trolls and beat on the occasional doofus. But I do enjoy some good snark...

About 7,000 world wide since Ebola was first identified in 1976.

Meanwhile, about 6,000 Americans have died of flu. (36,000per year/6)

166,000 people have died of malaria, worldwide (1mm per year/6)

20,000 have died from died from cholera, world wide (120m/6)

And so on.

Just for some proportion.

The above numbers are average assuming constant death rates over the year which is probably not the actual case.

I would be willing to bet a dollar that by December 1 Ebola is no longer a problem or worry in the US.

Any takers?

John Henry

Sadly, I will take that bet.
So why have we not attended to this rather simple and relatively non-diverse virus? The complexity of HIV is no excuse to ignore lower hanging fruit.

Both sides do it!

Mary Burke fired a consultant who got caught being too stupid or too lazy when creating a job's proposal to revise his own past text.

Calling his actions unethical is patently ridiculous.

Even the people Mary Burke fires are more ethical than those that Walker keeps around.

Thnx overlords of discourse :)
I mean that.
It is your dime that provides this well to gather round.
Such is the nature of things today.

We shall do better.
