Enough with the ALT.com guy already!

Postby supaunknown » Tue Mar 31, 2009 5:08 pm

Hey, I know ad monies are tight, but a few folks have mentioned to me that the alt.com ads force them to take a pass on browsing the DPF for fear that a coworker not in-the-know will mistakenly think they're surfing porn. Not good.

P.S. I like the photo of the pile o' bacon.

Agreed. And I'm not going to go into the inevitable AV response about having a half naked woman on the page as well. I dont want half naked anything on my TDPF. Barring that are there some other gay hotties they could put in a rotation of some sort. At least them my coworkers will think I'm into to more than one type of dude.

I'm proud that people read the Daily Page when they should be working.

I narrow down the browser window.
But sometimes it's the yellow bus guy instead. He makes it safe to maximize.

Sometimes the Alt.com ad is tattoo lady rather than nipple-man.
But only where a square ad fits rather the tall ribbon that Mr. Leather-straps inhabits.

For some reason, I like tattoo lady better.

Are there employers out there that want you to waste time on TDP while on the clock?

I get a lunch hour. I eat my PB&J in 5 minutes. What else am I supposed to do with 55 minutes? I troll internet and listen to podcasts.

I didn't realize you had access to my schedule and break times.

anyway, I'm sitting here and its slow as all hell, and the guy in the next cube walks by, sees Senor Alt's nipple and asks "Havin fun over there?"

I think thats the last straw for me.

You talk about cube sex like it's a bad thing.
"Head set" takes on a whole new meaning.

You'd think with this economy, they could find a better looking model or more talented photographer. The guy looks like a fired auto assembly line worker.

I don't see the ALT.com guy...you don't have to either.
This and this is how.

TDPF Givens:

Flanders will call Muslims "the peace-lovers."
Wags will refer to listening to no music fewer than 20 years old.
and
Jammybastard will trumpet ad-blockers.

Frankly, I'm surprised it's taken you this long.

EDIT: adjunct to the third: I will needle him on it.

And you should. I just thought I'd mention that a couple users who used to dig DPF just don't risk it anymore cuz of Nipple Man.
DPF traffic seems down big-time from as recent as a year ago. Hmm, maybe everybody is over at alt.com ...
Weekday hours are when you receive the most web hits, correct? Maybe there could be a less racy version of the ad run during the day, and a bawdier one at night?

I'm torn on this practice. I understand why you block ads, but at the same time I try to be deconstructively supportive of ol' Isthmus and therefore I'd feel guilty if I blocked all the ads that are paying their rent.
