Spoiler Information in the Isthmus Movie Reviews

Postby drinkinblackcoffee » Mon Mar 09, 2009 11:31 am

Marc Sanlov's Watchmen review gives away a rather important piece of the movie away. I'm talking about a part of the movie which is 2.5 hours into a three hour movie.

I swear I've seen this happen before in the Isthmus. Isn't there some kind of ethical line with regards to reviewing movies or books where you're not supposed to try to and ruin the movie for people that might want to see it?

This douchebag seems to get reviewing a movie and telling what the movie is about mixed up. If you can't write a review without telling the story, you shouldn't be a movie reviewer.

In the opening paragraph no less. But wasn't it in the trailers too?

The review gives away much more than the split second shot of a blue-light explosion somewhere in a city in the trailer does.

Don't all movie reviews contain spoilers?

I don't know where the line is, but I'd say giving away a key point at the end of the movie crosses that line. The Isthmus should really consider dropping this Savlov guy from future reviews- I know I won't bother with reading any Isthmus movie reviews again.
