That was a spellbinding read. A mystery wrapped in an enigma blah blah ...
Cases like this where someone just vanishes are pretty freaky. Somebody likely got away with murder.

Maybe "Brad Green" is a fan of Snatch:
[Brick Top] And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig shit, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig".

I've gotta admit, I wasn't hot on another Isthmus story about Amos. The important story though is unmasking this shadowy distribution network that relies on large cash payments.

It underscores the ridiculousness of the drug war. The danger that accompanies distributing marijuana comes not from the product, but the illegal nature of it. People were murdered in the streets over bottles of gin during prohibition, but it doesn't happen today.

How many times do people have to die or have their lives upended by long prison terms before we take a rational view of this situation?

On a semi-unrelated note,

the article wrote:Cell phone analysis put him near Mortier's house within the hour he went missing.

Your cell phone tells anyone where you are at any time.

(note to self: turn off phone @ King's Inn Motel)

Nathan Comp mentions a 2007 article he wrote in which he talked to"Brad Green." Anyone has that article and can look up BG's real name?

Nathan is still on the case.

Kickstarter launched for new documentary on Amos Mortier
http://isthmus.com/news/news/kickstarte ... s-mortier/

"After a decade of investigating the disappearance of Amos Mortier, journalist Nathan Comp is turning his work into a documentary. A senior contributor to Isthmus, Comp is teaming up with California filmmaker Kristina Motwani, a UW grad, to co-produce the true crime doc, What Happened to Amos? A KickStarter campaign was launched Oct. 18 to cover production costs. The month-long crowdfunding drive has a goal of $30,000.

Amos Mortier vanished from his Fitchburg home in November 2004. Police suspected the 27-year-old was killed over drug money but no charges have been filed in connection with his murder. Mortier's body was never found."

I'm more interested in the OTHER unsolved homicides in Dane Co...the young woman who was abducted after leaving Amy's Bar on Gilman St. one summer and later found in the town of Oregon, the woman murdered over by Camp Randall a long while back, the priest up in Dane, there are a few others. We pretty much know that Amos was killed over drugs/money, but these others are real mysteries.
