Adrift in a foreign blue sea: the new layout

Postby Velvet Coffin » Tue Oct 21, 2008 7:03 am

Short version: Oh HELL no.

After some contemplation: Huh. Nice to see locked threads distinguished so readily. There could be benefits. But my beloved "last 12 hours' posts" link: useless!

Pre-coffee decision: My sense of navigation is so thrown that I can't figure out if anyone else is throwing confetti or daggers. I'll be daggers for a few days until I get the hang of it.

Is it just me, or do the ads on the right-hand side take up more of the screen than they used to?

they definitely do, but everything seems clearer and easier to read...

Pre-second coffee, hmmm, yes, easier to read for color contrast.

Did we get a warning or was this sprung on us by surprise?

I'd kill for a "widescreen" button.

Generally feeling conflicted. I, too, miss the Last 12 Hours link.

Ah, the circle of life. Once again, the Forum sheds its skin and slithers forth in a snappy new look. I've seen this enough that I'll try to keep the wailing to a minimum... but I have to join the mourning for the Last 12 Hours link (sob).

Hey! "View Active Topics." I hereby retract my sob.

I'll keep whining, though. Red header, gray navigation, a slew of multi-colored ads, and now baby blue forum. Ow, my aesthetics.

Flickr pool gadget has 6 pics instead of 4 now.

Does Isthmus get to charge more for the ads now that they're bigger? I hope so. If not, please consider shrinking that right-hand column back to pre-blue dimensions.

I always use the "view posts since last visit" button because I check in sometimes more than a couple of times a day ('specially on Fridays).

I don't remember being able to look at all the members before. Is this new? You can sort for "number of posts!"

It looks really good on Firefox.

The 5" of links at the top (between The Daily Page banner and The Forum banner) take up waaaaaay too much space. Really shouldn't have to scroll down an entire page just to get at the fresh content, doncha think?

It totally sucks because blue is harder to read than black and half the stuff doesn't work.
