Would you rather...

Postby jjoyce » Mon Dec 03, 2007 5:16 pm

... be able to leave comments on Restaurant listings?

... customize a profile page to include your recommendations for local restaurants, bands, events, TDP stories, etc.?

... comment on stories without having to supply your entire, real name?

... something else?

As we've discussed here before, I think a lot of this stuff about how sites like ours should build in Facebook-style functionality is a bunch of hoo-haa. They do what they do, we do what we do. The question is, how can we do what we do better, and involve our users better?

Instead of mere comments, I would prefer a zagat-like system for restaurants and venues.

I refuse to browse a site that lists the memorial union terrace as the #1 restaurant in madison.

I wonder which section of the Union they thought was the best restaurant - the cafeteria or the vending machines?

I'd rather there were websites listed for those restaurants that have them.

Comment ability in the Eats list section is begging for trouble. But maybe a list of related forum topics, sort of like a built-in keyword search for each eatery. That's probably a lot of work/server activity though.

When I saw a forum post titled Would you rather I assumed it would be proposing two potentially disgusting scenarios and then we would be forced to choose one or the other.

Joyce, what is the proper way to report an incorrect link and/or restaurant description. Number 43 is way outdated.

Stop jacking this thread!
Ok.
Now then:
SHOULD WE
... be able to leave comments on Restaurant listings?

... customize a profile page to include your recommendations for local restaurants, bands, events, TDP stories, etc.?

... comment on stoies without having to supply your entire, real name?

... something else?

Yes.
