Satisfaction Jackson

Postby Goober McTuber » Wed Aug 19, 2009 1:14 pm

That's the name of the new seasonal double IPA at the Ale Asylum. As of Sunday they hadn’t yet decided whether they were going to bottle it. Excellent beer.

They have decided to bottle it, and it should be available within two weeks. Unfortunately, it is not available on tap in the interim.

After 300+ views I get a reply. Is this the forum equivalent of mercy sex?

No, I just didn't have any new info to share myself, so I thought I'd at least say thanks since you told me something I didn't know. I was under the impression they planned to have it out by mid-September.

Gotta say, haven't enjoyed the Drinking category much lately. I mean, yeah, I like coffee, but it isn't what I thought this all was supposed to be about. I needs my booze news.

OK, I didn’t know if you were being sincere or snarky. I forgot to buy a program on the way in here, and you can’t tell the players without a program.

Supposedly it should be available (for a very limited time) sometime next week. If you liked the Ballistic, you’ll love the Jackson. I will be calling them daily next week, and will update you then (sometime after I have managed to stockpile for my own needs).

Well, it seems clear that Ale Asylum is focusing on blue-collar workers who really, really appreciate good beer ... Or on others who have no sense.

$15 for a six-pack is damn daring – an opportunity to show you've created something that surpassses the sum total of 5000 years of brewing history. ... But $14.99 is fucking anemic.

When will the U.S. have it's own Real Ale revival??

Please tell me you typed that wrong. Sheesh-- maybe I would like it, but I will not be trying it.

As opposed to drinking it in a bar, where your $15 will get you half the amount of beer.

I know it's a lot for a sixer, but it's still cheaper than per-pint rates.

As well as supporting the staff and assets of a local watering hole.

It's only marginally cheaper than bar rates, btw. Assuming it's $14.99 per six pack of 12-oz bottles (someone tell me if that's wrong), you're looking at $0.208 per fluid ounce. Assuming the typical pint of bar beer is $4 (my average guess), that's $0.25 per ounce.

I've had the Jacksin on tap, and I found it to be worthy of the price. Some competitors go the four-pack route and charge $9.99....so you don't feel like you're spending as much but on a per-bottle basis you really are.

It just seems like that's about the market price for really top-end IPA's. Yeah, it's spendy but I loves my hops so I don't mind spending a little extra on myself now and then. This particular beer is awesome, and I don't think it'll be on the shelves very long, even at $14.99.
