I gotta go along with Marvel on Dwight Yoakam's "Ain't That Lonely Yet." The thing about Yoakam is that he's also covered the best "utterly and totally devastated" breakup song, too, several times over. No one sings those songs better than Yoakam.

Good choice, but I'm thinking "Positively 4th Street" puts more F in the FU

Here's one I forgot about: Wanda Jackson, "Box It Came In"

My clothes are all ragged my goodwill coat's not the best
And I'm a walking on cardboard in my last dollar dress
I looked in the closet for my wedding gown
But the box that it came in was all that I found

He took everything with him that wasn't nailed down
Bet he's got a new sweetheart to fill my wedding gown
But somewhere I'll find him then I'll have peace of mind
And the box he comes home in will be all satin-lined

Cold blooded...

Not the BEST, but it must be mentioned with a subject line like that

And although there's pain in my chest
I still wish you the best
With a...
"FUCK YOU!"

I first heard the clean version on the radio, and thought it was an old-school song from way back in the day...until I heard that part about Xbox and Atari.

I've got a not-so-secret crush on our friend Dwight. Think I'll go on a little Yoakam binge right now.

I think it's right up there—and I'd completely forgotten about it.

Dude (dudette?) should have consulted this thread before making the mix tape...would've got a lot more variety.

(and yes, I just called a mix-CD a mix-tape. Ya can take the kid out of the 80's, but...well...you know.)
