Guitar lessons

Postby Crockett » Wed Sep 26, 2012 11:36 am

I "play" guitar. As in, I've been playing the same 10 songs for 10 years. I'd like to finally take formal lessons. Any suggestions? A school/teacher with weekday hours would be ideal.

I like all music but folk, 70's, campfire stuff is my favorite to play (think Dylan, Simon, Zeppelin, etc).

Madison Music Foundry looks interesting.

The Foundry is the place to be. They have several guitar teachers. Talk to Mike about what you like and they'll match you up. Place is absolutely great.

I have a friend who has taken lessons from Chris Powers for a number of years. He highly recommends him, but I don't know if Powers is presently taking more students. He give lessons during normal working hours. Powers plays bluegrass, but my friend is learning to play acoustic blues. Don't know how to contact him but he does have a show on WORT, so you could try through them.
