Books and Beats with Stu Levitan, April 18, ten-noon central. 92.1 FM
It was our most important public works project of the 19th century. Gerard Koeppel, author of Bond of Union: Building the Erie Canal and the American Empire [Da Capo], explains how a man-made ribbon of water changed the nation.
Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner David Maraniss is out with his first collection of writings, Into the Story: A Journalist Looks at Life, Politics, Sports and Loss [Simon and Schuster]. He's also just back from researching Barack Obama's family background in Kenya. A lot to talk about with Madison's favorite journalist son.
More with Gerard Koeppel.
Willie Ney, executive director of the Office of Multicultural Arts Initiative at the UW, talks about the ongoing Line Breaks Festival.

Hope you can join us.
