Instrument of the Day

Postby supaunknown » Wed Jun 21, 2006 5:36 pm

See something really cool for sale? Do you like droolin' over neato axes & gear? Post a link so we can all go ga-ga together (unless you'd rather not have more bidding competition).

We'll see how long this thread lasts 'til the admin committee shuts it down cuz of all the purty pictures. Heh.

Oh here's a couple...

Ibanez Jet King JTK-2

Even Ibanez is going retro.

Fender "Aloha" Stratocaster

*only* $6500.
Pass.

I had a few minutes in Borders this afternoon and got to enjoy looking at all the new gear in the latest Guitar Player.
Here's the one I found the most humerous:

The Brian May "Red Special" Pedal...

Image

All tones are modeled from Brianââ?¬â?¢s Red Special (Burnsââ??¢* Tri-Sonicââ??¢ pickups) with a treble booster and VoxÃ?®* AC30 amp unless otherwise noted.

Brian May in a box? Is nothing sacred?

What the hell is Guitar Center doing with that? NOT FAIR.

And if we're going that route, check this out.

How bout this?

Actually, I think these were generally total garbage. Everyone wanted a DA guitar after Greg Ginn outted them with Black Flag, but his was totally hotwired of course. I played the bass once and I certainly wasn't sold. The guitars had that wack cartridge style pick-up... Hi-larious! Is that a wood bridge?

Anybody care to comment on the quality of the reissue EH products? My vintage DrQ breaks if I look at it...

And why the FUCK are they selling it as-is? You mean to tell me none of the self-professed GC gear "geniuses" is curious enough to hook that fucker up and give her a spin? LAME.

"We think it works, but ... like ... analog went out when we were in ... like ... 3rd grade. Unless it says "Digidesign" on it, we can't figure out how to hook it into Pro Tools."

Guitar Center goons are the original pro tools, y'ask me.

Minicat, you need this:

I'm sure that Fleximix mixer never hit the floor.

Dude at GC: "What's this thing?"
Other dude: "Is that a Peavey?, Yuck"
Manager dude: "Look it up on eBay and get rid of it. That thing is ugly."

I always wonder how people can claim something along the lines of "it is a perfect ProTools front end" and then sell it as is. To me that "as is" comment means it won't be perfect for anyone without spending a ton of cash restoring the thing.

I still think it's a cool piece though.

Oh, man. An ex-girlfriend of mine had a Kustom Challenger amp just like that. It was fuckin' sweet.

Must. Resist. Bidding.

Man, I love the design of that Ibanez guitar, and I'd really to hear that beautifully simple Kustom Challenger amp. If Chuck is talking about Rhoda, maybe I have heard that amp.

Richard Davis is apparently selling some of his collection so here's my pick o' the day:

He's got a couple more on eBay too. Wowza.
