Are you tall? Strong? Athletic? Can you dunk a basketball? Throw a 95mph fastball? Run a 4.4 forty? Eat sixty hot dogs in under a minute?

Do you write the catchiest songs since The Beagles? Can you fill an arena with adoring fans? Do your CDs fly off the shelves? Could you be a runway model? Are you a virtuoso? Do you rock?

You're never gonna make it.
So why do you do it?

I'm just a control freak.

My 40 times have been lagging lately, and I cannot stand hot dogs. I can dunk a basketball, but the hoop has to be pretty low.

I most certainly will never make it.

Dude - I've already fucking made it.

I was my own boss.

I made it with the girl next door.

I shook hands with my hero Mark Borchardt.

From now on I'm just sitting around waiting to die...

My ex. (a frustrated musician) used to say that to me, until my paintings sold, on the North Shore and I showed him the money. My son once whined that he was never going to be a great jazz flutist. I replied that I may not be Michaelangelo but I still paint, because it makes me feel good.

I made it when you were out at the grocery story, but I cleaned it up before you got back, so you'll never find out unless some foron spills the beans.

I'm tall but I think you are taller, Supa
Not strong
Not athletic
I used to be able to dunk but those days are gone.
No fast ball
I can drink a 4.4 forty, and not get drunk--that would have to be more like 6.0 or maybe like Boone's Farm or something
No hotdogs please

Sheeet, man.
I write good songs and I know how to rock but don't play rock much anymore. I kinda miss it, maybe I should get back into it

I've made some money and lots of friends and drank a lot of free booze, met my wife after my old band the Ultramaroons played at O'Cayz years ago, lost my voice many times, left a guitar at a gig and didn't notice till the next show a month later, played with some awful bands and plenty of good ones....did I mention the free booze? I'd say I've made something, a comfortable existence in a small city, a good life as a musician.

Dude, I already "made it." I'm just hanging around to collect the diminishing returns, man. And yes, that means I'm left with antagonizing my fellow citizens on an online forum.

Shed a tear for me, my dreams, and those glory days.

I'm married, so I ain't doing it for the chicks.

We play originals, so I (obviously) ain't doing it for the money.

I guess I do it for the rock! And more specifically, to show that balding, paunchy white guys can still bring the rock!!

I would argue that any male musician who has received a genuinely exquisite blowjob solely on the basis of being a musician, with no obligations or expectations attached, has made it.

I dunno what the chick musicians get out of it. Maybe they've made it if they've ever made somebody cry with the overwhelming emotional power of their art.

You all realize I'm joking and would never allow somebody who was not legitimately in love with me to blow me, right?

Robert! you dirty, dirty. dog. Is the qualification statement really neccessary? What if its early in a relationship before "love" enters the picture?
And whats up with the double standard? Do female musicians only dream of an emotional reaction from the audience?
Jeez, I'd love to know.
