That's understandable, but you are incorrect if you think that just because people prefer a less crowded atmosphere that they have no interest in live music. And yes, some of that DOES have to do with getting older. Are you really surprised to learn that people and their tastes change as they get older? Assuming you're not really 12, my guess is you don't enjoy all the same activities you did when you were.
I NEVER said you didn't ENJOY live music.
As a living being, I enjoy being in the company of other LIVING beings truly enjoying themselves.
I hope I don't get old and become the crotchity old guy who doesn't want to see a show where kids are having the time of their lives. Cuz that's the BEST type of show in my opinion. When you see kids truly happy at a show I think you will understand, but my gut tells me you would avoid shows like that with all yr life. Which is a shame, cuz most of the best shows I've seen have been the performers feeding off of the energy in a live room. When you see a powerful performer feeding off that energy it's intoxicating. And at the same time when you see that same performer at a dead show the shows typically are not as intense on the musicians end, and that's why I prefer a packed show where the musician can feed off of the energy.
I should clarify "Interest" - I was making a point that you would have no interest in actually knowing the capacities/intricacies of the inner workings of venues in a town like Madison (aka WHY VENUES OPEN), since you don't play shows. Which is totally fine, but that's why you should have taken my word on this junk, since I think I've proven to be knowledgeable on the subject, eh?
