John Scofield at the Majestic on Monday, 4/13...

Postby dstol62 » Fri Apr 10, 2009 1:43 pm

Since the keepers of "the guide" @ Isthmus didn't see fit to publicize the above mentioned show, I will be happy to do so. This is a must see for all guitarists, jazz enthusiasts, and those interested in funk and gospel music.
It should also be mentioned that George Porter, the original bassist of the legendary "Meters" of New Orleans will also be in the band. For those who aren't familiar with Scofield or his history, check wikipedia...

And they can also listen to my Books and Beats interviews with both John and George on Sunday morning, 10 AM, at 92.1 The Mic.

It is listed in the guide:
http://www.thedailypage.com/theguide/de ... ent=215043

Maybe you are wondering why it is not a Daily Pick?

I agree, if I was doing the picking it would be a must see show of the week. Scofield is a living jazz legend. And with Porter on bass I will be ashamed if I miss it. Just wish it was not on the monday after easter wknd.

Combine leaving mine and the wife's taxes to the last minute, a board meeting until 9:30p, and being gone all weekend, there was no way I could make the show...

So how 'bout a review for us poor saps who missed out, dstol62?

If Isthmus had known that Clyde Stubblefield would sit in on a way funky version of "Cold Sweat," do you think the show would have been listed as a Daily Pick?

Because he did.
