Who was in Lee Perry's backing band last night?

Postby acereraser » Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:08 pm

Following Lee's cues and trying to anticipate where he is going must be very challenging, but the guys behind him last night did a great job. By the end of Lee's set, they were good and relaxed, and turned what could have been just a night to honor (by way of ticket purchase) an elder statesman into a good rockin' time.

I think I know who half the band was, but someone who knows all should please post it here, so those guys get some just recognition.

the members of Lee Perry's backup band

Postby Bifftar » Fri Aug 29, 2008 12:00 am

Drums: Jah Boogie
Keys: Aaron Konkol
Bass: Nick Moran
Gtr: Biff B.

it was an unforgettable honor to back up Lee Scratch... he was classy, professional and cool. Before the show he stuck 4 incense sticks in a banana, one for each of the band members, lit them and said "put this on stage."

he also held a lighter under the XLR connector to purify it before putting it into his mic, as well as the windscreen on his SM58.

at the very end he said he liked everything, which was a huge compliment coming from one of the inventors of Dub music. I still have his tunes playing in my head...

Thanks for the knowledge, Bifftar. I saw Lee's show in the Twin Cities a few years ago, and as excited as I was then to hear Lee with the Mad Professor at the i-trols, the one at the Majestic was much more enjoyable for me. Rooting for the home team made all the difference!
