Restaurants Worth Worrying About

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

Restaurants Worth Worrying About

Postby Kovalic » Thu Apr 24, 2014 11:47 am

I'll admit it. I'm worried about Naples 15.

Chef Salvatore Di Scala is fantastic, but everything on the menu is between $3 and (ulp) $20 overpriced, for this market.

Service has gotten better, but wow, does that place need someone with restaurant experience overseeing the operation. As empty as it always seems to be, I'm surprised it's lasted this long.

We revisited last night, and the meal (two pasta dishes, two glasses of wine) came to almost $70 - mostly because the lasagna special turned out to be a $32.95 shocker.

Please oh please let some Save-This-Restaurant reality TV show or something come in and help them get their business act together.

Anyway, with coupon usage and judicious ordering, you can get something less ridiculously-prived at Naples 15.

But that got me wondering - what other restaurants in the area might you worry about, due to non-food issues?

I know how much pasta costs. I make it all the time. Pasta doesn't cost $32.

The site of Naples 15 is doomed. They should turn it into a bike shop or something.

Not just pasta--lasagna, the cafeteria's gift to Italian cuisine.

Send that evildoer to Gitmo.

A while back we were all excited about having some kind of DPF lasagna cook-off. I think it was Marvell's idea. Whatever happened to that?

Edit: here!

Probably not, as I haven't been there yet.

I am astounded, just utterly shocked, that it's been about three years and the service at Tipsy Cow hasn't improved one bit. The food is some of the best in the area, but the service is just unforgivably terrible.

They have Community Change certificates ($10 off) as well as one in Bucky Book (I think)...

It makes a lunch there actually affordable!
