If you read radboy's post history, you'd know that that was probably the intent.

Re: What does Maniaci's re-election mean?

Brenda Konkel has a post on her blog titled "Maniaci Illegal Electioneering." In the comments, she writes:

This has nothing to do with electioneering, its a violation to simply be present. Look at the law, it's the act of being present that is the issue.

Yet the headline about electioneering remains. Blogger, heal thyself.

Re: What does Maniaci's re-election mean?

I doubt Konkel ever thought Soglin was anti-Edgewater development - as it's been stated numerous times, Soglin is pretty similar on most issues with Dave. The difference all came down to management style, though frankly, if Soglin had been in office then, he probably would have handled it relatively similarly.

As for the original post, I think it's easy to overstate the correlation between Maniaci getting re-elected and the development - while she did have some "pro-development" votes she also picked up a lot of student votes, presumably because she campaigned hard, putting in a lot of door to door time.

If I put that much door to door time in on MY campaign, this'd be Taco City right now.

I think a lot of people like Brenda Konkel supported Soglin thinking he was against the Edgewater. Boy were they ever dumb!

Don't forget the four TIF rules that had to be disregarded or have exceptions made in order to get this project through.

Policy 2.1 Ineligibility of Luxury Housing
Policy 4.1 (8) 50% Rule
Policy 4.1 (10) Self-Supporting Rule
Policy 4.1 (12) Personal Guaranty

Re: A few words about Dave Glomp

Hey, why should I bother to log in at all if Blaska's just going to make up my points for me? Here's a lifelong member of the political class who has hung with the cynics of the world for so long that he barely knows what it means to actually listen and try to understand another's point of view. Brenda Konkel and I squared off over the cops issue a long time ago on these very boards. But I understand that to you, Dave, liberals are liberals and they all fall in line behind Nichols, right? To you, I'm even a "committed liberal." Labeling me that way indicates you believe I take my cues from a play book, right? How could I possibly think for myself and disagree with your proven wisdom! You know what I'm thinking before I'm thinking ...

Re: Brenda Konkel wants "government television"

Holy out of context. Would you believe that snippet, grossly edited was posted on a list serve in response to someone defending the bike share program as a rounding error for the roads budget and I pointed out that if this $300,000 gift to TREK to charge us to ride their bikes was considered at budget time, when they were making decisions about (insert list of budget items here) it might not be a priority in long list o "tough choices". I included the city channel (government television) cuts due to the AT&T successful lobbying that resulted in the loss of PEG funding, which led to three layoffs at WYOU, 1.5 layoffs at the city and some at the School District. But yes, I think it is important that city channel is supported, the "government" piece of PEG and that the...

Re: Brenda Konkel wants "government television"

Oh please...I do believe she's referring to city cable access, not "The Bachelor" sponsored by Mayor Dave that will serve to consolidate government power through mass mind control.
