Re: Worst supergroup ever

Speaking of John Mayall. Prof, would consider Fleetwood Mac a supergroup? Nah. While true that Fleetwood, McVie, and original guitarist Peter Green all got their start with Mayall, I've never had the impression they were already famous when they formed Mac (although being neither British nor old en...

Re: Another night, another murder in Madison

until hollywood can come up with a movie about a dashing and dangerous actuary, I think certain people are still going to be drawn to the criminal life no matter how many bad things we legalize. So could the movie and TV series The Librarian/s eventually lead impressionable young people to want to ...

Re: Is America's Second Worst Governor on the way Out?

It looks like the governor of Illinois is worse than Scott Walker. He mangled the state's finances to the point where they are just above junk bond status. He completely botched the flooding, so badly he made Scott Walker look great by comparison. Funny, isn't it how all the governors who destroy t...

Re: Rolling Stone's Brian Jones 'was murdered'

Meanwhile, we've got a sociopath in Madison named Irving Smith who after taking me for a ride, is still pulling stunts. You're missing out on a great chance to help Madison by worrying about what I think about dead rock stars." Now that you've invoked your cosmic bete noire, Irving Smith, I'm ...

Jonny when Anita Pallenberg died last month, you missed a chance to bring up the story of Brian Jones beating the crap out of her--coincidentally just before she left him for Keith.

Re: The Giant Wagstaff CD Listening Project Thread

I mean, "Love The One You're With" doesn't really bother me musically at all but I find the "here's why I'm an asshole and you shouldn't care" lyrics so off-putting I can't stand hearing it. [snip] In other words, Kiss gets a pass for arbitrary, age-based reasons. Now, if somebo...

Re: The Giant Wagstaff CD Listening Project Thread

Chicago talk radio icon Mike North has trolled for callers by opining that Janis Joplin and Parliament-Funkadelic (among others) do not deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because they didn't have enough hit singles and that Lesley Gore and Connie Francis belong there instead. I don't re...

Re: The Giant Wagstaff CD Listening Project Thread

The Isleys were three or four of my favorite bands! I didn't much care for JA/JS after Blows against the empire (I had fallen in with a horde of drug-crazed Hot Tuna fans by then), but I'd enjoy reading your take on them or the Isleys.

Re: I Shot the Sherrif

I read on some liner notes that "I Shot the Sheriff" was autobiographical, and explained why Marley left Jamaica. This makes no sense. The song came out in 1973 and Marley didn't relocate to London until the end of 1976. Pretty sure he left because someone had just tried to assassinate hi...

Henry, how many of your favorite beers are pale ales? It seems like there are an incredible number of them available. Can you tell them apart by taste? I can't, but pale ales are not my favorite beers.

Re: Atwood old guard

Those of you critizing Joe Krupp are jokes. He made the Atwood corridor, starting with Bob's Blue Plate Diner twenty-five years ago. (It was rechristened "Monty's" after a new partner/operator was brought in.) Krupp has provided homes to countless new residents and local businesses over m...
